街中にはコンビニエンス・ストアがたくさんありますが、その中でお気に入りのコンビニはありますか？

セブン-イレブンのファンの方々は、カンボジアに行かれると、ちょっとガッカリされるかもしれません。なぜなら、現在カンボジアには、セブン-イレブンがないのです。

 

しかし、今年の５月に、セブン-イレブンが満を持して来年カンボジアへ進出予定であるとのニュースが発表されました！CP All Cambodiaという会社の協力を得て、セブン-イレブンの営業販売権が確定されたそうです。セブン-イレブンの海外展開は、カンボジアが１９か国目となります。

 

セブン-イレブンは、カンボジア初のコンビニエンス・ストアではありません。カンボジア国内には、すでにCircle K (サークルK)、Kiwi Mart、Aeon MaxValu Express、Smile Mini Martなどが存在しています。２０１８年にファミリーマートとの経営統合により日本から撤退し、同年にカンボジアに進出したCircle Kは、現在カンボジアで一番人気のあるコンビニエンスストアになっているようです。２０２１年にはセブン-イレブンが新たなライバルとしてカンボジア市場に参入しますが、セブン-イレブンはカンボジアで次の人気ナンバーワンコンビニになれるでしょうか。今後の動向がとても楽しみです！

 

With so many convenience stores available out in the streets, amongst them which is your favourite convenience store? For fans of 7-Eleven convenience store, this might come as a disappointment, but you can’t find 7-Eleven in Cambodia currently.

 

However, good news! It was announced in May this year that 7-Eleven will be opening its first branch in Cambodia next year. This was after a master franchise agreement has been signed with CP Cambodia company to allow the company to operate 7-Eleven in Cambodia. Cambodia will be the 19th country where 7-Eleven stores operate in overseas.

 

7-Eleven is not the first convenience store to set up in Cambodia. Existing convenience stores in Cambodia include Circle K, Kiwi Mart, Aeon MaxValu Express and Smile Mini Mart. Circle K, which after a merger with FamilyMart and had withdrew from Japan in 2018 and entered Cambodia in the same year, is now one of the most popular convenience stores in Cambodia. With 7-Eleven entering the Cambodia market as a new competitor in 2021, we wonder if it will also become the next popular convenience store in Cambodia, and we are looking forward to that.
